Lesson One: FIRST POSITION LICKS: Key of E and key of A rural blues licks are the foundation of rockabilly guitar. These are explored along with twelve-bar blues progressions and chord families, boogie bass lines and backup figures, turnaround licks and fingerpicking patterns ... plus rockabilly riffs and cliches for lead and backup as well as first position scales for soloing.
Lesson Two: PLAYING UP THE NECK: Chords and chord families that allow you to play all the lead and backup licks from Lesson One up the neck in any key are discussed. Fingerpicking melodies up the neck, easy chord-fragment-based licks, moveable boogie bass backup and moveable rockabilly riffs and cliches are featured.
Lesson Three: PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER ROCKABILLY STYLE: Moveable blues/rock scales (single and double-note) used in rockabilly music are taught. We end by combining all the elements of the three lessons and come up with full-blown rockabilly arrangements (fingerpicking single and double-note scales, boogie bass lines, riffs etc.)
