Again we find a way to vary the approach vis-a-vis the bass line in this arrangement of the Billy Strayhorn tune that became the theme of the Duke Ellington Orchestra. The idea here is to play the melody over a one-note repeated bass phrase that it highly syncopated. This creates some interesting challenges for the student, even in the key of C!
