Blind Willie McTell was a master with a slide. He was part of a tradition of great 12-string slide wizards that included Barbecue Bob, Charley Lincoln and George Carter. McTell knew and traveled with Blind Willie Johnson and they undoubtedly played together. He gets a lot of music out of very simple, straightforward licks. It's a sound that goes straight to the heart, like all of his music.
