Tommy McClennan was one of America's most successful down-home blues recording artists. He was born in Durant, Mississippi, and grew up in the town and later moved up to Chicago.
He started to record in 1939 for the Bluebird label. Among Tommys most notable numbers were "Bottle It Up and Go," "Cross Cut Saw," "Travelin' Highway Man," and "New Highway No. 51 Blues." McClennan was famed for his raucous, uninhibited singing and guitar playing. But when you listen carefully to his playing you start to hear very clever and intricate fingerstyle blues.
“Love With A Feeling” is played in the key of C. It has echoes of the playing of Big Bill Broonzy but played with a totally different touch.
