Mississippi John Hurt usually played in standard tuning. But he had a few gems in Open G and Open D tunings. "If You Don't Want Me" is one such gem. It is John's take on "Big Road Blues" by Tommy Johnson as far as lyrics. The guitar arrangement is uniquely John's. He recorded this on his 1966 Vanguard album "John Hurt Today".
