Charlie Patton's "Green River Blues" is chopped full of hammer-ons and string bends. Using your thumb, index finger for a down up strum technique while performing the hammer ons and string bends may be tricky at first but soon will become second nature. The techniques used to play this piece are pre-blues and give an interesting look at how the guitar, or banjo, was played prior to the blues explosion of the early-mid twenties. It is played in the key of E.
