"Goin' Down Slow" is a blues composed by St. Louis Jimmy Oden. He recorded it in 1941 and has become a blues standard and one of the most famous blues of all. Many blues artists have recorded the tune. My arrangement is heavily influenced by the playing of Lightnin' Hopkins and Mance Lipscomb. It is played in the key of A but in a dropped D tuning (D A D G B E). This tuning is very effective for play blues in A.
