Woody Guthrie often wrote stories about his childhood, and in the early 1940s he was commissioned to write an autobiography. It was published in 1943 with the title "Bound For Glory," a gospel tune he often sang, and revised with some Woody-type lyrics. A 1976 Guthrie biopic of the same name starred David Carradine. This key-of-C arrangement features Travis style fingerpicking, in which the thumb alternates bass notes while the fingers fill out the rhythm (during accompaniment to the vocal) or pick melody notes (during the solo). Watch out for that sliding C lick on the 2nd and 4thstrings...it's in bar 3 of the solo and is repeated toward the end of the solo.
