Doc Watson made "Black Mountain Rag" a staple in the repertoire of all flatpickers. It was a must instrumental if you wanted to join the flatpicker's club! Chet Atkins took this tune and made a fingerpicker's delight arrangement in Open G tuning. The arrangement taught in this lesson is a variation on how Chet played the tune. It has three distinct sections and none are too difficult. The challenge is to get that "sound" and "speed" and have a steady alternating bass that pulsates throughout your playing.
